FUGA expands global UGC and rights management offering with integration of Adrev

March 8th, 2023 – Today, the world’s leading full-service B2B distributor, FUGA, announced the expansion of its global UGC and rights management offering with the complete integration of the industry-leading platform, Adrev. Both businesses are part of Downtown’s expansive professional music services division, Downtown Music.

Led by president Pieter van Rijn, Downtown Music – the business and professional services division under Downtown Music Holdings, which includes FUGA, Downtown Music Services, Adrev, and Downtown Music Publishing – offers an extensive array of services to the professional music industry, including distribution, artist and label services, publishing administration, neighbouring rights, creative and sync, UGC monetization, and royalty accounting.

Los Angeles-based Adrev launched in 2012 and was acquired – alongside label services provider and distributor, DashGo – by AVL Digital Group in 2018. In a deal that included Adrev, DashGo, and distribution services CD Baby and Soundrop, AVL Digital Group was acquired by Downtown in March 2019.

Adrev’s in-demand proprietary technology gives their extensive client roster, based in more than one hundred countries, access to a comprehensive suite of monetization and digital rights management tools. Publishing, recording and audiovisual rights holders can make and settle complex claims in seconds, license programmatically at scale, and analyze granular performance data. In 2022, Adrev monetized more than 131 billion views while managing more than 15 million copyrights.

The recent formation of Downtown Music under the leadership of President, Pieter van Rijn, saw Adrev more closely align with FUGA; the integration formalizing many months of collaboration. By partnering Adrev’s proprietary software and team of experts with FUGA’s global reach and existing UGC and digital rights management offering, both FUGA and Adrev clients will now be provided with an extended service aimed at amplifying and simplifying UGC and premium video content monetization into one, seamless environment.

The combined offering is the latest in a series of new additions to FUGA’s extensive suite of distribution, technology, and marketing solutions. In 2022, the distributor added Audience Strategy, Physical Distribution, and Catalog Marketing to the list of services available to its global roster of nearly 1000 music companies. Its enhanced UGC monetization and rights management division will collect across more platforms than ever before, including YouTube, TikTok, Soundcloud, and Meta.

FUGA President, Christiaan Kröner said this, “By integrating Adrev into FUGA’s existing service, we’re building the most powerful UGC and Rights Management offering in the industry. One that capitalizes on Adrev’s extensive experience, proprietary software, and highly knowledgeable team and amplifies it with the global reach of FUGA.

We’re excited to offer existing Adrev and FUGA clients an enhanced service while welcoming new clients into a streamlined ecosystem that benefits their global strategy – whether that be through distribution, marketing services, royalty accounting, or our enriched UGC and Rights Management Service.”

Adrev President, Ben Kihnel had this to say, “Integrating Adrev into FUGA offers our existing clients unparalleled and streamlined access to FUGA’s services, while FUGA clients are now able to benefit from Adrev’s proprietary audio fingerprinting technology and a team of experts that will maximize the revenue they earn. Together, we’re able to set the industry standard for digital rights management and monetization.
